Split
tickets
Cut the cost of travel with split tickets.
Rail travel can be expensive, but using split tickets is a hassle-free way to cut those costs.
Instead of buying one ticket for your entire journey, you can buy two or more tickets that each cover a section of the route. You still travel on the same train, unless your itinerary says otherwise, and you simply enjoy the saving.
If for example you’re travelling from Manningtree to London Liverpool Street Station, instead of buying one ticket, you might receive two, one ticket from Manningtree to Chelmsford and one from Chelmsford to London Liverpool Street Station.
How do split tickets work?
When you plan a journey with TicketyBoo, we automatically check thousands of fare options. If splitting the trip saves money, we will highlight it clearly and show exactly how much you could save. You then buy everything in one smooth checkout experience, and your tickets arrive exactly as normal.
Rail fares across the network can be priced quite differently which means you can often pay less overall by dividing your trip into smaller parts. Our app does the hard work for you and searches every possible combination to find the best value.
Your journey itself remains straightforward. Most of the time you stay in the same seat for the whole trip. If the split fare requires a seat change, we make that clear on your ticket, and we always try to book the same seat throughout whenever possible. All your tickets are neatly grouped in the app so they are quick to find when needed.
Split tickets do not affect your rights in any way. If your train is delayed or cancelled, you are still protected and entitled to compensation just as you would with a single ticket.
It’s all TicketyBoo!
It’s the smart way to make your travel budget go further and you don’t have to do anything to take advantage of this scheme, you just need to use our app.
